Anti-classism unit of the student council
You are not alone, there are other first generation students at LMU.
In 2020, Bavaria's first anti-classism unit was founded here. The students in this unit see themselves as a point of contact for all those whose parents did not study or those who already pursued a profession before studying. Here you can network, exchange ideas and get support from experienced fellow students.
Support by the Central Student Advisory Office
Where will I live, and how much will it cost? These two topics can affect where you decide to study, particularly in Munich. At this event, LMU students share their own experiences and valuable tips. They outline the options for financial support when studying in Munich, or for a study abroad opportunity. They talk about student housing in Munich and what to look out for when looking for accommodation.
Registration:
Use the contact form (in German). All registered participants will be sent an email with information on the login access to the webinar. This talk will take place if at least five participants register to attend. Group registrations possible!
The offer specifically addresses the needs of (future) first-generation students. Being the first in the family to embark on the path to university often brings challenges and makes those affected doubt their ability to study. Using interactive methods, the workshop will identify the resources that first-generation students bring with them that can be used in their academic careers. The goal of the online workshop is to jointly analyze uncertainties before/during studies, to exchange ideas with each other and to encourage each other to use their own potential profitably.

ArbeiterKind
ArbeiterKind is a German network that supports pupils and students from non-academic backgrounds on their way to university and during their studies.
The Munich local group meets every first Thursday of the month for a virtual exchange - interested parties are welcome.
